So, who is this Paintbrush Inanimate Insanity you may ask?
Paintbrush is a character in the youtube animated show Inanimate insanity . They have been in the show since the very start and has been in all seasons!
While Paintbrush's role in season 1 was relatively minor, serving mostly as repeat jokes like "I had a question about..." and the other characters debating their gender, season 2 gave them the room to develop as a person struggling with anger issues, and even explored their gender identity. Season 3 continues to give them some growth, especially in their relationships with others.
One of their most notable relationships is with Test Tube, Fan, and Lightbulb (ESPECIALLY Lightbulb). Lightbulb and Paintbrush met in season 1, then met Test Tube and Fan in season 2, then played with Test Tube and Fan in season 3. The bond they formed with these three, especially during their time in season 2, has become especially close, which is also why these 4 characters (also known as the Bright Lights or the Core 4 Bright Lights) are also major fan favorites in the Inanimate Insanity Fandom.
For me personally, I found Paintbrush to be very relatable, as someone who's struggled with anger issues, wanting people to take things more seriously, an artist, and as a nonbinary person. Paintbrush's coming out scene in season 2 episode 12 (also my favorite episode in the entire series) was incredibly impactful to me, as I felt that the scene helped explain the concept of being nonbinary in a way that could make sense to anyone.
Also, for anyone who hasn't seen my Tumblr page, I'm a HUGE Lightbrush shipper. I know this ship is actually very popular in the community but it's popualr for a reason! These two gayasses are so silly and fun together and I absolutely love their dynamic. And for those who complain about the Lightbrush "fanservice" in the later part of season 2, SHUSHY! (I don't think it was fanservice anyway but if it is then I'M THE FAN THEY'RE SERVING!!!)
